Private Mass Texting for Educators
Communicate assignment reminders, text parents about schedule changes, and tutoring clients about session updates. All private, all professional, all from your real phone number.
Privacy-focused solution for K-12 teachers, college instructors, tutors, and educational coordinators.
Why school communication is broken
You're a K-12 teacher who needs to reach parents, a college instructor communicating with adult students, or a tutor coordinating with clients. When you need to notify parents about a field trip deadline or remind tutoring clients about tomorrow's session, your options are limited and problematic:
- ✕Group texts violate privacy. Parent group chats expose everyone's phone numbers and lead to drama when questions get asked in front of the entire class. Schools prohibit teacher-student group chats entirely for safeguarding reasons.
- ✕School apps get ignored. Remind, ClassDojo, and ParentSquare notifications get buried under social media alerts. Parents don't check apps daily. Push notifications get muted after the first week.
- ✕Email sits unopened. Parents get hundreds of emails per week and miss important updates buried in spam folders. Your field trip permission deadline passes because no one saw the email.
- ✕Calling everyone individually takes hours. You have 90 students across three classes, which means 90+ parent calls for a simple reminder. Or you have 30 tutoring clients and can't spend 2 hours on individual calls.
You just want to reach parents (or adult students/clients) quickly without violating safeguarding policies or spending your entire evening on communication.
Private mass texting: One message, entire class, fully private
BCC Text lets you send the same message to all students or parents privately. Each person receives an individual text from your real phone number. They can reply directly to you, but they never see who else received the message.
How it works
Save your class rosters once
Create groups like "Period 1 Students," "Parent Contacts," "Tuesday Tutoring Group." Import from CSV or add manually.
Write your message once
Type your homework reminder, test notification, or schedule change. Add [First Name] for personalization if appropriate.
Send with one tap
Messages go to your entire class individually in under 60 seconds. Each student or parent gets a private text, never knowing who else received it.
How educators use private mass texting
Homework Reminders (to students)
Hi everyone, reminder that your essay on Macbeth is due tomorrow by 11:59pm. Submit through Google Classroom. Let me know if you need help.
Test Notifications (to students)
Test on Chapter 4-6 this Friday. Review guide is on our class page. Office hours Thursday 3-4pm if you want to review.
Parent Updates (to parents)

Schedule Changes (to students or parents)
Class moved to Room 215 tomorrow due to assembly. Same time, different room. See you there.
Tutoring Session Reminders (to clients)
Hi [First Name], reminder that we have our tutoring session tomorrow at 4pm. Bring your math homework and we'll work through problems together.
Progress Updates (to parents)
Hi [Parent Name], wanted to give you a quick update on [Student Name]'s progress. They're doing great on participation but missing some homework assignments. Let's chat if you have questions.
Why private mass texting gets better results
Privacy-compliant
No group chats means no exposed phone numbers. Students can't see classmates' contact info. Parents can't see other families' phone numbers.
Professional communication
Individual texts maintain appropriate teacher-student and teacher-parent boundaries. Replies come directly to you, not broadcast to the entire class.
Actually gets read
98% of texts are read within 3 minutes. Your homework reminder reaches students before they go to bed, not the next morning when it's too late.
Your real phone number
Messages come from your professional phone number (ideally a Google Voice number separate from personal if desired). Students and parents recognize you.
One-time cost for multiple classes
$45 lifetime covers all your classes, all your tutoring clients, all your groups forever. No annual renewal fees.
No account signups for recipients
Students and parents don't need to download an app, create an account, or remember another password.
Frequently asked questions from teachers and tutors
Should I text students directly or parents?
Depends on age and school policy. For elementary students, text parents. For high school and college, you can text students directly if school policy allows. Create separate groups for each.
What about FERPA and student privacy?
Private mass texting doesn't expose students' grades, performance, or contact info to others. However, follow your school's communication policies. If your school prohibits teacher-student texting entirely, use parent contacts only.
How do I get parent phone numbers?
Most schools collect parent contact info during registration. You should already have these from your class roster or school database.
Can I text during non-school hours?
Use good judgment. Sending homework reminders in the evening (6-8pm) is reasonable. Texting students at midnight is not. Set boundaries and communicate them.
What if parents don't want texts?
Respect opt-outs. If a parent asks not to receive texts, remove them from your group and use email or phone calls instead.
Can I include links to Google Classroom or assignments?
Yes. Include short links in your text. Example: "Math homework due Friday: [shortened link]"
Should I use my personal phone number?
Consider getting a separate Google Voice number for professional communication. This keeps your personal number private while still letting you text from your phone.
Real scenarios from educators who use BCC Text
High school English teacher
"I used to post homework reminders in Google Classroom and hope students checked. Now I text all three periods separately with reminders. My late assignment rate dropped by 40% because students actually see the reminder."
Private tutor
"Parents would forget session times and cancel at the last minute. Now I send reminder texts 24 hours before each session. My no-show rate went from 20% to under 5%. Paid for itself in the first week."
Elementary school teacher
"I used to email parents about field trips and only half would respond. Now I text parents directly and get responses within an hour. Makes coordinating events so much easier."
College professor
"Office hours were always empty because students forgot. Now I text reminders the day before exams: 'Office hours today 2-4pm, come with questions.' Attendance tripled."
After-school program coordinator
"Weather cancellations used to be really challenging to communicate. I'd email parents but many wouldn't see it until they were already driving to pick up. Now I text everyone about cancellations and actually reach people in time."
